Environmental Damage
The effects of environmental damage are, not only a major financial burden, but also the cause of great personal stress.
Thermal imaging can play a major role in identifying specific damage which might otherwise go unnoticed, increasing unnecessary repair costs. It can also be used to monitor reparation progress.
Insurance Companies pay out billions of Euros every year for both industrial and residential claims. Thermography can play an important role in:
- Risk Assessment - An appraisal of the likelihood that harm will occur and its severity both in industrial and domestic environments.
- The analysis and validation of reparation after a particular loss has been incurred.
There are two types of survey that can be undertaken for insurance companies:
A QUALITATIVE SURVEY
The process of obtaining and interpreting thermal images based on thermal contrast to identify areas that correlate to construction or sub-surface anomalies; the purpose is more to determine where a temperature difference exists than to obtain a number for the temperature difference or the actual temperature.
Typical examples of where this would be applicable would be assessing flood damage, burst pipes, underfloor heating anomalies, industrial safety evaluation and generally the middle to lower end of the risk scale.
A QUANTITATIVE SURVEY
The process of obtaining thermal images with correct temperature readings. Especially useful in situations when the exact temperature or temperature difference of the target determines whether it falls in or out of a determined criteria or range of acceptability.
This type of survey is more appropriate where high risk liabilities might arise and a definitive analysis is essential (in conjunction with other diagnostic tests).
ID Dynamics™ offers annual service agreements to cover the above nationally, excluding Northern Ireland.
We work in close cooperation with other professions such as building engineers and chartered surveyors.
